2026: The return of the blog?
I really thought that 2025 was going to be the year of the blog for me, as I was already becoming disillusioned with large social media platforms, feeling how overwhelmed and dissatisfied I was feeling when using them (and with their algorithms), and thinking about how often these spaces disappear.
So what happened?!
I did start to create a blog, and made a few posts, but then I fell back into the mindset that I should be writing for others, that I needed to focus on engagement and it honestly began to feel like a second job, even early on.
So fast-forward to this week, when I was reading JA Westernberg's blog post on "The Case for Blogging in the Ruins" and I was re-inspired to blog and create a "room of my own" on the internet full of my thoughts, ideas, and whatever else I decide to write about. Plus I was reminded of the importance of just getting started, and I feel I'll allow my blog to develop over time and space. It may not be as polished or as well-planned out as some others, but it will be a reflection of me and my style of writing.
What you can expect
A "mixed tape" of:
- thoughful reflections
- knitting and crochet, as well as other creative projects
- music recommendations
- maybe even some recipes
- and more!
I am purposefully not putting pressure on myself to post every day, but I want to start with aiming for something at least once a week.
So thanks to those who are reading this! 💜 I am looking into adding member sign-ups, which will enable the ability to comment, and also the potential for a newsletter (probably much further down the road). In the meantime, you can mostly find me on Mastodon.
